About the Project
Designing a convention campaign with movement, memory, and meaning.
4M YPD Convention 2024 was the visual identity and campaign system created for the Mangena Maake Mokone Memorial Conference YPD Convention, themed Mission MPossible: Breaking Camp. The campaign needed to communicate urgency, movement, preparation, and spiritual momentum while still feeling youthful, energetic, and rooted in community.
I led the creative direction from concept to execution, developing the event logo, hero poster, packing list collateral, and supporting visual assets. The goal was to create a campaign that could do more than look visually exciting — it had to clearly guide attendees through the event details, venue information, dress expectations, and preparation requirements.
The visual language was built around hand-drawn doodles, annotations, and expressive layout details. These elements were not only stylistic; they referenced Convention as a reporting and accountability space — a moment where ideas, objectives, progress, and ministry work are reviewed and mapped forward.
To make the campaign feel authentic to the audience, I incorporated photography I personally captured at a previous youth event. This gave the visuals a lived-in quality and helped the work feel connected to the people, energy, and culture of the organisation it was created for.
The final result balanced branding, storytelling, information design, and ministry communication. It reflects the kind of design work I enjoy most: visual systems that carry a message, organise information, and help people feel part of something bigger.
Project Thesis
Event branding works best when logistics, story, and identity move as one.
