Mokone’s Very Own

Mokone’s Very Own was a commemorative apparel design project created for the outgoing presidents of the Mangena Maake Mokone Memorial Conference YPD. The jackets were designed as appreciation gifts that honoured leadership, service, and legacy within the organisation.

The goal was to create something more meaningful than standard merchandise. Each jacket needed to feel personal, prestigious, and rooted in the identity of the person receiving it — a wearable keepsake that could carry memory, recognition, and institutional pride.

I led both the creative design and project management of the project. This included developing the visual direction, structuring the symbolic details, sourcing the supplier, and managing the production process through to execution.

The final design included personalised elements such as the year their service concluded, their initials, a featured personal quote, and a Roman numeral representing their place in the organisation’s presidential history. These details transformed the jackets into individual tribute pieces rather than generic apparel.

This project reflects my ability to design with meaning while also managing the practical realities of production, supplier coordination, and final delivery.
