thank you, Mokone is a short-form recap video created for the Mangena Maake Mokone Memorial YPD Leadership Indaba & Seminar. The project was centred on video editing and post-production, with the aim of turning event footage into a piece that felt energetic, grateful, and grounded in community.
This was also my first time exploring DaVinci Resolve, which made the project an important learning point in my motion workflow. I used the edit to test how colour, pacing, transitions, audio, and text treatment could be controlled in a more intentional post-production environment.
The video leans on natural event audio, especially the moments of crowd chanting and singing, instead of depending only on a polished soundtrack. That choice helped the recap feel closer to the actual room — more alive, more communal, and more connected to the people who were there.
Visually, the edit moves between high-energy outdoor moments, intimate spiritual scenes, celebration, and branded closing details. Text overlays, flash transitions, light leaks, and film-burn textures were used to create movement without making the footage feel over-produced.
At its core, this project is about learning how to make an event recap feel intentional. It reflects my interest in using motion not only to document what happened, but to preserve the feeling of the moment and give the audience a reason to remember it.
