Stigma is a kinetic typography video about breaking the stigma around mental health. Rather than introducing the word normally, the animation builds it through a sequence of repeated tension and impact.
The video starts with a cocking sound, followed by a sharp shot-like sound cue. With each impact, a burst of smoke appears and forms one letter of the word. The sequence repeats until S-T-I-G-M-A has been revealed, making the word feel constructed through pressure rather than simply typed onto screen.
After the letter-by-letter reveal, the screen cuts to black before STIGMA returns in a glitching title moment. A cinematic anticipation sound builds tension, then resolves with the screen cracking. This final crack becomes a visual metaphor for the damage caused by silence, shame, judgement, and untreated conversations around mental health.
The creative direction leans into dark space, high contrast, smoke, glitch, and fracture. The goal was not to make the topic look decorative, but to make the viewer feel how heavy and destabilising stigma can be. The typography becomes the subject, the sound becomes the trigger, and the cracked screen becomes the consequence.
